At Cinderlad all puppies are sold on contracts. This protects both the buyer and the breeder.  Pet puppies are sold with neuter/spay contracts stipulating the puppy must be altered between 6-9 months of age and no AKC paperwork is given until proof from the vet is received.  Some veterinarians recommend earlier, as early as 6 weeks.  We do not like to subject a puppy that young to anesthesia.  We've also had the experience of people coming back to us at the age of 6 or 9 months and asking to show their puppy because everyone says "he's/she's so beautiful".  At that point we will do an evaluation and if everything checks out the puppy is shown.  Sometimes a new show home is born.
The contracts all stipulate that if at anytime in the dogs life, be it 1 yr old or 10 yrs old, it needs to be re-homed it is to come back to us.  NOT given to animal control, a neighbor, rescue or anything else.  Their lives are our responsibility and we make allowances for the return of these animals.  Pet puppies are at least 8 weeks old before they leave, have been vet checked twice, had dew claws removed, at least one shot and been wormed.  They leave with a packet of information and the diet they are currently on.  They must be seen within 72 hrs by the family veterinarian.  If at that time their veterinarian finds anything physically wrong a full refund will be given or an exchange of puppies.  Show puppies are sold on a co-ownership with specifics in the contract applicable to that dog/bitch.  They are guaranteed against any severe faults which would deter them from finishing their championship and any hereditary or genetic faults that would deem them unable to be bred.  This means they must also pass all health checks pertinent to the breed that are necessary BEFORE being bred.
Reservations:
Generally Cinderlad puppies are reserved before they are born.  We usually take no more than 2 reservations after the pregnancy is confirmed by a vet and hold a waiting list until the birth.  Sometimes waiting lists are quite long and there are only so many puppies to be had, at that time we will refer to other breeders in the general area.
Grading of puppies:
Actually this is done from birth.  All puppies are socialized from birth with family members and grandchildren touching, holding and cuddling with the new babies.  This allows us to do some mild examination of structure.  Mom enjoys the rest and it gives her a chance to feel secure in leaving them in loving hands.  The final grading is done somewhere between 6 - 8 weeks usually with the opinions of other breeders, handlers in the area.  Then the pups are ready to go to their new owners.
Shipping/Transport:
We prefer that all pet puppies be picked up in person, if we have not already met.  We prefer not to ship via airlines if at all possible.  We use Nationwide Pet Transportation or try to arrange a meeting point.  The welfare of the puppy/dog always comes first.
Older Dogs/Retired Champions
Sometimes we have an older retired champion that we are looking to place.  Usually it is due to the fact that we like to limit the number of dogs we have at any one time.  Sometimes the dog may be a young pup that we kept to grow out and feel it doesn't have the show potential we were looking for.  It is then placed for sale and will be neutered/spayed prior to leaving.  You can always check on availability for these Cinderlad dogs.
